Welcome to the July edition of Mopinion’s Employee in the Spotlight! This blog series gives readers an inside look at who we are and how our employees contribute to our company culture. Last month we shined the light on our brand new Customer Success Manager Saskia Clappers. Fairly new to the team, she had a lot of interesting insights and things to share about her experience thus far at Mopinion. So this month, we’ve decided to hop on over to another department and highlight a special member from our Sales team, Kevin Drinkwaard. Here’s his story…
Meet Kevin. Kevin joined the Mopinion Sales team as a Digital Feedback Specialist just a half year ago to help Mopinion serve more customers worldwide. One of his primary responsibilities is generating leads and booking demos with our prospects. But when he’s not on the phone trying to get a hold of future customers, he’s chasing his nephew throughout the house or banging his head to heavy metal.
I sat down with Kevin to learn more about his job here at Mopinion and here’s what he had to say.
What does your position at Mopinion entail?
“It entails qualifying opportunities, getting as much information about our prospect’s projects as possible and discovering what it is they want to achieve with the Mopinion platform. Wrap it all up in a nice package and send it to Sales.”
Kevin recently moved back to the Netherlands from Scotland. He was also working as a Lead Gen there prior to his move, so the job offer at Mopinion was exactly what he was looking for.
What initially drew you to Mopinion?
“After applying I had a phone call with the Sales Manager Luke and I got a really good feeling about this company. When I went to the office I noticed the relaxed atmosphere and I got a chance to meet the team. Everything was positive and matched my needs, so I was ready to sign the contract.”
What does a typical work day look like for you?
“It starts with coffee, lots of coffee. Then I go through the new trials that came in and reach out to them by phone or email. After that I will go to my older trials who I have planned to phone back in a previous conversation or ones that I haven’t spoken to before to try and speak to them to make sure everything goes smoothly with their trial and assist them where needed to make sure they get the most out of it.”
Kevin’s job requires determination, patience and a positive attitude. Sometimes it takes weeks before he can finally talk to the right person or receives a reply via email. His enthusiasm is contagious and that’s very useful when he often only has a few minutes to convince the prospects to book a demo.
What is your favorite part about working at Mopinion?
“Definitely the people, but unfortunately due to the Covid-19 crisis I haven’t spent a lot of time in the office yet. Through online meetings I’ve gotten to know quite a few and recently we had our ‘Summer Jam’ team activity and I work with a great bunch.”
What are the biggest challenges you face in your job?
“The biggest challenge would be getting to speak to people about their customer feedback plans. It can be tricky getting in touch with prospects but once I do get to speak to them they are glad I called and so that makes up for it. Also, because we deal with so many different nationalities, the language barrier can sometimes be a challenge.”
What is your proudest moment at Mopinion?
“Booking my first demo was a great moment for me. Also going from a 3 day working week, when I started, to now working full time was a moment that I was very proud of. The faith and the freedom Mopinion gives us is something you don’t see everywhere.”
And now for some fun questions…
What do you like to do in your free time?
“I love playing video games so I spend a lot of time doing that but apart from that, now that I live in the Netherlands again I love spending time with my family. Every week I watch my nephew and niece for a day and it’s great watching them grow up.”
What is your guilty pleasure?
“Abba, and Karaoke. Putting the two together with some drinks though and you have a dangerous combination.”
What is your favorite quote?
“Do, or do not, there is no try”
– Yoda –
What is your biggest fear?
“Spiders for sure.”
Who inspires you?
“My Mother.”
What is one thing you can’t live without?
“Frikandellen, they are the best thing ever created.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
“At Mopinion helping companies get valuable insights from customer feedback.”
What is something that not many people know about you?
“I love Metal, the heavier the better. People don’t usually take me for a metalhead.”
Stay tuned for more!
