Meet Rachid. Rachid is our Chief Financial Officer which means that he’s responsible for Mopinion’s finance department and keeps an eye out on our back office. Rachid is relatively new to Mopinion, having joined management just this past year – and he’s proven to be a great addition with his expertise! Although Rachid lives in our capital (Amsterdam), he doesn’t feel any Amsterdam-Rotterdam rivalry and he loves working here at the HQ in Rotterdam. When Rachid is not working with numbers, he loves to watch sports, movies and workout a bit himself.
Let’s see why Rachid was drawn to Mopinion…
What does your position at Mopinion entail?
“I keep a close eye on the forecast, actuals and cash. Initiating the financial cycle and planning. Additionally, I handle all tax matters, report to the board and serve as Mopinion’s legal advisor.”
“I am also excited to announce that I will soon take on the ISO responsibilities as well.”
What initially drew you to Mopinion?
“I was always interested in scalable business models. Next, I wanted to stay working in Rotterdam. In my previous jobs, mainly I worked for project driven firms which is usually a challenge commercially. It’s not always steady and in the SaaS world it’s different.”
What does a typical work day look like for you?
“I dabble into a variety of different tasks on a daily basis that fall under finance, back office, management, and HR. This means I’m often running through figures, revenue, new business and checking the status of invoices with my colleague. I also focus heavily on financial and cash planning, reporting to the board and more.”
What is your favorite part about working at Mopinion?
“There are several favorite parts about working at Mopinion that I was drawn to. I like the team(spirit) and, of course, my role. I also like that we are located in the heart of Rotterdam. It’s a great and lively spot, where you can always have a nice lunch break outside.”
What are the biggest challenges you face in your job?
“That’s confidential,” Rachid laughs.
“But, if I have to mention something, I think it would be the new role concerning ISO. I am familiar with compliance, but not yet with the ISO regulations.”
What is your proudest moment at Mopinion?
“I’ve created a new structure and made work processes more efficient and more automated than before. And I like it when I discover new tax advantages for Mopinion.”
What gives you extra energy?
“Managing my colleagues and seeing them succeed. I’m also very punctual, so I’m always glad when things work out according to the planning. Deadlines are there to be met.”

What do you like to do in your free time?
“Being outside on a sunny day makes me really happy. I love to go to the park or sit out on a nice terrace and relax with friends and family. I also like to watch different sports or movie on netflix and in my free time I run and go to the gym occasionally.
What can we wake you up at night for?
“A trip to a tropical island, so I can enjoy good food and the surroundings with good company.”
Who inspires you?
“I am inspired by different people. In my career it was Igor Beuker. He started different companies and I have been closely involved and experienced all the stages, from startup to scale up to international and later after the acquisitions as part of a NASDAQ listed firm. He always kept challenging me.”
“And in general, I have always looked up to Johan Cruijff and Louis van Gaal, but there are a lot of other people around the world that can inspire me differently.”
What is one thing you can’t live without?
“Good food! Warm, and made with love.”
What is your favorite quote?
“Your skills are often put to the test in moments when you’re under pressure”.
What is your biggest fear?
“Barking dogs.”

Where do you see yourself in five years?
“Enjoying life even more than today. I don’t make plans or have big dreams. I believe that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it and work hard. Take baby steps and you will get to your goal. And I aspire to have a healthier lifestyle.”
What is something that not many people know about you?
“I have celebrated my birthday maybe once in my life.”
