It’s a new year which means we have some exciting new content on the agenda, including our January Employee Spotlight. The Employee Spotlight series is our way of giving you an inside look at the people behind the Mopinion brand. In last month’s Employee in the Spotlight, we interviewed a special member of the Development team, Dave. We hope you enjoyed his story. This month, however, we’re switching gears as we highlight one of our Sales team members, Luke Price.
Meet Luke. He is a Digital User Feedback Specialist who has been a part of the Mopinion team for about two and a half years now. As part of our Sales team, Luke is responsible for bringing in new prospects as well as managing our existing accounts. That is, of course, when he’s not looking after his newborn son, eating everyone else’s chocolate or running away from frogs…
I recently sat down with Luke to talk about what it’s like to work at Mopinion. Here’s what he had to say…
What does your position at Mopinion entail?
“I am in a client-facing role so my position often entails searching for new prospects, nurturing incoming leads (e.g. trial sign ups), giving product demos and handling a wide variety of account management tasks for current customers.”
All of this is done with the aim of expanding the Mopinion network and educating companies about the value of customer feedback, he tells me.
Why did you choose to work at Mopinion?
“I have had really positive experiences working at SaaS companies in the past. With these types of companies, customer relationships are often a bit more authentic and ‘human’ – so closing deals with my prospects is really rewarding.
Not to mention, I really like the laid back vibe that comes with working at a Startup. You are given the flexibility to make your own decisions about how you do your job, with absolutely no micromanaging, which is great!”
What does a typical work day look like for you?
“I usually come in, grab a cup of coffee and start running through my emails. And from there everyday is different. Some days I am working on a proposal, or hosting demos with prospects. Other days my focus is purely educating users and trying to determine their exact needs (e.g. what is a good fit package-wise). It’s nice because I have a lot of variety in my work and the structure of each day is never the same…”
What is your favorite part about working at Mopinion?
“Like I said before, I am really motivated by the freedom we are given here at Mopinion as well as the informal company culture. For example, being accountable for my own work and having the trust from management to work how I want to work…”
What are the biggest challenges you face?
“I’d say my biggest challenges revolve around time management (e.g. allocating enough time to both account management activities and closing deals with prospects) as well as helping prospects understand the value of customer feedback.
What I’ve noticed is that knowledge of our market is all over the spectrum. Sometimes it can be difficult for some businesses to fully grasp why customer feedback is so important and how it fits in with their digital customer experience strategy. So basically I have to find tailored ways to show them the value added in employing our feedback software.
On top of that, I also find it a real challenge to handle a lot of the more technical questions that arise. This means I am often working closely with our development and customer success teams to find a solution, which happens to be very educational for me.”
What is your proudest moment at Mopinion?
Probably the moment I see our feedback button or feedback forms on the website of a customer I closed a contract with. That is such a great feeling knowing you made that happen and that it is a success for them!
And now for the good stuff…
What is your guilty pleasure?
“Chocolate.”
Should’ve guessed. Luke is notorious for being our office chocolate thief…and yes there is such a thing.
Who would you like to be for a day?
“Definitely a Formula 1 Driver.. I’m a huge fan of the sport!”
What is your biggest fear / phobia?
“Frogs and toads”, he says with no hesitation.
This will probably be tested in the office later this year…stay tuned.
“I’m also afraid of heights but in a weird way. When I’m out hiking or something I have no fear of heights, but standing on the balcony of a skyscraper is just terrifying.”
What is on your bucket list?
“For starters I’d like to go on some epic hikes, like the Welsh Coastal Path or the ‘Dream Path’ which is a 570 km hike from Munich to Venice. I’d also love to ride on the Trans-Siberian Express, take a road trip from California to New York and drive a really fast car around a race track.”
What is your favorite movie?
“I really love the movies Django and 7 Years in Tibet. And course, some of the British classics, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the Johnny English Trilogy.”
What song do you have to sing along with when you hear it?
“I sing along to a lot of songs, but if I had to choose I’d say Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin”.
What is something that not many people know about you?
“There are actually a lot of things people don’t know about me. For one I’m color blind. Not severely but I can’t see the difference between some dark blues and purples, pink and grey, brown and red, etc…”

Luke also has a few hobbies such as playing guitar, photography (of cityscapes and landscapes) and a passion for wrist watches, which he tells me actually has name: horology!
Stay tuned for more!
