It’s time for our February Employee in the Spotlight! This month we’re putting the spotlight on one of our newest team members, our Front-End Developer and ‘website extraordinaire’ Yannick Post.
Meet Yannick. Yannick is a former intern who recently rejoined the team as our Front-End Developer. While his focus lies primarily on the design and optimisation of the Mopinion website, he’s also responsible for all other digital media and design work. In his free time, however, Yannick is an avid skateboarder, fan of jazz music and beer lover.
What initially drew you to Mopinion?
‘When I first joined Mopinion as an intern I was still in school studying Interactive Media. I had a great interview with one of the managers and got a really good feeling about the company so I took the internship. In the end, I liked it here so much that I found myself coming back after I finished school and now I’m working here full time!’
What does a typical work day look like for you?
‘I come in, grab my coffee and pick up where I left off on our website redesign project. It’s great because there is always something that needs to be done as we are releasing new pages in phases.’
In fact, this is my favourite part of the job. I get to use my creativity and work freely.
‘In addition to the website, I also perform other design work for our (digital and non-digital) marketing collateral (content downloads, landing pages, flyers, banners, etc).’
What is your favorite part about working at Mopinion?
‘I really like that Mopinion has a very informal work environment with a flat hierarchy and relatively smaller workforce. I think this type of environment makes everything a bit more personal which is nice.’
‘Company outings and trips to Barcelona (like last year) are also a plus!’
What are the biggest challenges you face in your job?
‘Well my work is very diverse, so a lot of the time I’m working on a lot of different tasks at once which can be quite difficult at times!’
What is your proudest moment at Mopinion?
‘When we launched the newly designed homepage on the website, definitely!’
And now for some fun questions…
What do you like to do in your free time?
‘I’ve been skateboarding for about ten years so that’s a big one. I also like to play the piano, video games and card games with my friends.’
What is your guilty pleasure?
‘Dancing to Disco music with friends.’
What is one thing you can’t live without?
‘Definitely cheese & beer.’
What is your favorite quote?
Gaan is gaan
which is a Dutch expression for ‘just go for it’!’
What is your biggest fear?
‘Probably public speaking…’
What is your favourite movie?
‘I don’t really have a favourite but I really like most Quentin Tarantino films.’
What kind of music do you listen to?
‘I really like Jazz & Funk. One of my favourite bands is probably Snarky Puppy.’
Snarky Puppy at North Sea Jazz Festival
What is something that not many people know about you?
‘My friends and I have a unique Christmas tradition where we make our own ‘trap music’. It started out as a joke on how simple/lazy that music writing is. Thing is we all actually dislike the genre, but making it is kinda fun I guess.’
Stay tuned for more!
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Yannick in this month’s Employee in the Spotlight! Stay tuned for our March spotlight…
