Welcome to this month’s Employee in the Spotlight! As you all might already know, in this blog series we introduce the Mopinion team members to you one-by-one. Last month we sat down with Marketing employee Dorian and this month it’s time for one of our more versatile employees, Mohamad Haroon. Having previously worked for Mopinion as an intern two years ago, we are very glad to have him back on board again!
Meet Haroon. Although Haroon just started in January of this year, we wouldn’t exactly call him one of the ‘new guys’ here at Mopinion. Haroon previously worked at Mopinion as a Marketing intern. Unfortunately at the time, there were no positions open to take him on as a full-time employee. Now (two years later) he’s rejoined the team, but this time as a Customer Success Manager and our ISO Project Lead. As a Customer Success Manager, Haroon works very hard to advise our clients and help them where needed. At the same time, Haroon also serves as our ISO Project Lead which makes his job very diverse. When Haroon’s not checking our customer’s satisfaction, you can find him exploring the Netherlands.
I had a nice long video call with Haroon to get to know him a bit better as well as learn more about his experience thus far at Mopinion.
What does your position at Mopinion entail?
“As Customer Success Manager I work together with my team to ensure our customers are receiving the support they need to achieve their goals with our software. This includes advising them on buying decisions and onboarding new users after purchase. I am also responsible for collecting and analysing the feedback we receive from these customers.”
And then, of course, there’s the security side of his job…
“As ISO Project Lead I am in charge of our organisation’s ISO 27001 compliance project. This includes setting out our ISMS scope, building information security policies and procedures, identifying and mitigating information security risks and management of information security incidents.”
In fact, this year, thanks to all Haroon’s hard work as well as the hard work of the Mopinion team, we earned our ISO 27001 certification!
What initially drew you to Mopinion?
“A pizza!”, that’s right folks, a pizza…
“Yes, the very first time I heard about Mopinion was in a pizza shop from an ex-intern of Mopinion, Stef van der Linden. While waiting for my pizza to come out of the oven I had a nice discussion with Stef during which he introduced me to Mopinion, since he thought the company might fit well with my background.”
True story…
“But on a serious note, after moving to the Netherlands in 2017, I was hoping to start my career with some of the best in the industry, and in my research, I luckily came across Mopinion. As a fast growing company, Mopinion’s reputation, young and professional team and diverse environment convinced me that our goals and interests were well aligned and that I would accomplish more by working at Mopinion.”
What does a typical work day look like for you?
“Since I have two different positions/responsibilities, I can say I’m a jack-of-all-trades, seeing as how I have to multi-task from the moment I arrive at work. My work consists of engaging with customers and managing our ISO 27001 certified ISMS.”
“Customer engagement comes in the form of onboarding, renewals and running & analysing customer satisfaction surveys which typically takes up to 70% of my day. For the other 30%, I make sure our ISMS is up-to-date, all information security policies and procedures are followed and that all periodic checks are performed. I am also in charge of organising periodic management reviews and lead the yearly internal and external ISO audits.”
What is your favorite part about working at Mopinion?
“At Mopinion you are encouraged to be yourself and have all the freedom to do your job your way as long as you remain productive. This gives me a feeling of being trusted, which makes me love my job.”
What are the biggest challenges you face in your job?
“Since I come from a totally different background and culture, the workplace culture and my own mindset was a bit of a challenge for me at the beginning. But with the guidance of my managers and help of my colleagues this is no longer a challenge to me!”
What is your proudest moment at Mopinion?
“When we passed the ISO audit and got ISO 27001 certified in one go!”

What is your guilty pleasure?
“Still listening to Bollywood’s 90’s romance songs that I used to listen to as a teenager. And you can wake me up in the middle of the night for my favorite Afghan food: Kabuli Pulaow”.
Who inspires you?
“My Grandmother. To me she is an example of bravery, patience and kindness.”
What is one thing you can’t live without?
“My Family.”
What is your favorite quote?
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
What is your biggest fear?
“Flying and earthquakes are my biggest fears. I unfortunately had a few bad flying experiences which made it worse!”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“I am a big fan of watching documentaries and playing strategy games. I also like exploring historical castles and going on long drives!”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
“An experienced customer success manager serving thousands of Mopinion’s satisfied customers. I also want to be fluent in Dutch so I can help out our Dutch customers in their own language!”
What is something that not many people know about you?
“I have a birthmark on my left arm which many people think is a tattoo or burn mark”
